How to make homemade play dough

It's fun to make homemade play dough with the kids. They get to practice skills like measuring, mixing, reading a recipe, and spending time together is always fun! Adding in a few drops of essential oils helps to add to the experience while making the play dough and while playing with it later!

Homemade play dough recipe:
1 cup flour
1/4 cup salt
1 tablespoon cream of tartar
1/2 cup warm water
5 drops essential oil of choice
Food coloring and glitter are optional

This is not only a great sensory exercise for the kids but it's also a great way to encourage making things from scratch with natural ingredients. I like being able to show my kids that you don't have to buy everything already made for you at the store. Plus most people probably have these ingredients on hand which just makes it even more easy to prep and enjoy. I love simple and fun recipes like that! Is there a recipe you're looking for?
